Perhaps you should take your own advice. I did just as you suggested, and the whole first page consisted of links to articles titled with any variation of "if you think 'cis' is a slur you are wrong." Dude, really?

Ok, so I'm not going to pile on the replies below about Ru's earlier experiences as a gay, black man. I do, however, want to open up the concept of "passing" in this conversation. I'm not necessarily on Ru's side in this fight - I don't have a horse in the race, so to speak. Some trans women can "pass," (Carmen…
Co-opt much? Don't try to equate a completely neutral term like "cis" with incredibly offensive, hurtful, discriminatory language. Just don't.
"Tranny" also references "Transvestite," which he is. That's Ru's whole point...
As I understand his reaction, he argues the word 'tranny' also refers to 'transvestites.' He says he's been a transvestite for 30 years, so no one should be able to tell him he has no claim to that word. It's not the strongest argument...
I recently read his comments regarding the use of "tranny" as a shorthand for Transvestite, and it really made me think. He basically says "I've been a 'tranny' for thirty years, so fuck you for saying I don't have a claim to this word." I have a difficult time with any sort of "reclaiming" rhetoric, so it was a…
You're right about it being all about the parents. The discount really is a "Good Parent" discount, but that would be rude (I guess?). However, as for the frequency of this type of situation, if it weren't that common there wouldn't be a "Good Kids" discount in the first place. It's more common than you think.
But that's not the point of the "Good Kids" discount. Having been a server, there is a distinct difference between "Aww, this kid is having an off day" and "Jesus Fucking Christ, these kids are animals! Why are their parents allowing this shit?" I'm really not trolling you - I think if one of your kids had an off…
I actually did read your comment carefully.
I like how you go from "Ugh, one more thing for parents to be one-upping eachother about" and immediately follow with "my kids are awesome, we get compliments, I raised my kids right!" That's some high-level stealth Mommy Wars (TM) shit, right there.
I love how you say "I had on the TV for noise (I work from home) immediately followed with "I was watching a marathon of Undercover Boss." Ha! Busted!
This is actually not a joke. This is a factual statement. I really, really wish it were a joke...
"Why are people eating there this much?" That's a good fucking question. Those sandwiches are disgusting. The shops are always packed at lunch. Always.
There is a Subway two blocks from my office, one block from my office, and half a block from my office. You can see the other two Subway shops from the front door of any of the three. It's ridiculous. I'm pretty sure if a restaurant space opens it will soon host a fourth Subway.
"Queer people can be in relationships that aren't always same-sex, yo."
I had a great-grandfather named Colonel, and a great-great uncle named Sargeant. Neither served in the armed forces, as far as I know... but I really like the names!
How do you "accidentally" put on a white dress to go to a wedding? I mean, come on.
I worked in Tunisia for a while in the early 90s, and I house-sat for some coworkers while they were back in the States for vacation. It was a little weird. I lived on the corner, and there was a roadblock with armed guards at the intersection. That wasn't normal at the time. Then, the first time I went to the corner…
