Stop using this unoffical concept image. It gets people’s hopes up and just makes them angry. It’s not going to look like this. In all likelihood, it’s going to be a rebadged Everest.

Alanis,
When are they finally going to ditch the antique and fragile 2.5 in the STI?
Wait, so the 2018(!) models, are still based on the 4th gen Impreza, and I’m guessing the STi still has the EJ motor? A bit lame.
I still want more power. It’s a fun car. I owned a 2013 STi, and have driven a 15'. They handle great, are relatively quick, but are simply getting outpaced in the power department by other non-performance cars. I could accept this if it got exception economy, but it doesn’t. It’s just a very compromised car at this…
10 years. 10 years and we still can’t have a factory 350 horse from the STi? Yes, you can ruin a vehicle with too much power, but come on now! 305 is just not as hot as it used to be. But rejoice! We get a tube from the engine compartment to make it sound better....
The fuck? That’s pretty much the main thing the world has been asking for over the last 10 years, and the only part of the car that hasn’t changed significantly in all of that time.
QFT. This is so true. I think many people need to understand, and learn about basic economics. The bosses and management at automakers will most likely not eat up profit margins because the U.S govt decides to increase tariffs all of a sudden, they will most likely pass it onto consumers even though cars are mostly…
The oil was $275, tires were $1,598, and the brake job was $3,000. Say you did the oil and brakes yourself and didn’t do the tires. That’s only a “savings” of $4,873. In that video, I think that’s about the most you could hope to do on your own. The engine-out items were not for simple things like oil. The…
Belts are time sensitive, not mileage. If you put 5 miles on it but wait 3 years, you need new belts.
The Ferrari 360 has 3 year intervals, but fortunately doesn’t require engine out to do them. Mine went 4 years (scary) with only a few hundred miles and one of the tensioners was seized and the belts had visible wear.
Th…
I think what AndyG_UK was asking is whether cheaper maintenance would hurt its value by more than the savings. I doubt it. If accepting a $10k ding to its eventual resale will save you $20k in service, that’s the way to go. It’s at least worth crunching the numbers to determine the cost/benefit.
Yep. You’d have to pay someone to take it off your hands.
This is not a “working” engine.
You’d better put in your INXS tape in your Walkman on the way over!
Today is my Friday.
Even though we dressed and looked like tools in the 80's, our concept cars were cool!
I remember thinking at the time that the Olds campaign "Not your father's Oldsmobile" was 180 degrees in the wrong direction. If I'd been in charge of marketing, the ad would have been "Your father's Oldsmobile is BACK!", with vintage footage of race-prepped 1948 Rocket V-8s hammering down Daytona Beach, followed by…
I'm pretty sure at that point, they stopped calling it Lag, and went with "Turbo Layover"
