I ask myself the same questions about the mother of the 6 year old school shooter. Punishment is definitely deserved ... but I’m not sure that incarceration is the correct answer to “What is just punishment?”.

There is also the “life insurance” aspect of this. When bad laws get people killed, life insurance still has to pay. And they’ll have to pay out sooner, rather than in old age where they’ve collected premiums for years and can weasel out based on other long-standing lies they tell.
