That they had Alicia win tells me that a) next season will be the show's last, b) it will be a boutique season where the creators will be writing for their own pleasue and not the audience's, and c) the 5-season rule on most network shows still holds true. Grab your waterskis, Fonz…

I was waiting for that to happen, and for it to be the ultimate reason she loses.

Shameless and John Wells are a perfect fit. He loves to create rich, interesting characters, and then he loves to spend years literally destroying them, over and over again. What seemed at times excessively brutal treatment to characters on ER and The West Wing seems like just another day at the office on Shameless.

While other aspects of the show could use some freshening, I don't find much cause for complaint with the confessionals on Top Chef. That's one of the few shows left where the show allows us to get a sense of the true personality of the chef in spite of what they're saying.

You outline the weaknesses of the pilot well; I got through the first half-hour and literally felt as if an hour had gone by.

I do need to get in more Disqus throwing time…

Sadly it's going very well for Rupert Murdoch.

It was a very good year.

Missing piece of history in the article: IE didn't simply "break into the mainstream" — the dominant browser in the mid 90s was Firefox's baby daddy, Netscape Navigator. That is, until AOL bought Netscape and let it slowly die in a closet, while MS started bundling IE with its operating system, which at the time

I would gladly give up mumbly Finn-Alicia if it meant a guarantee of some extended Henry Talbot-Mary Crawley action later this year.

"All she did was turn down a marriage proposal from a jerk, accept a cramped apartment from an opportunistic friend, and stammer her way into a job she wasn't qualified for? And she's supposed to be groundbreaking? Get me in a room with her, I'll tell her some stories that'll leave her catatonic! And then Don will

I really want a scene in 1970 where Harry drops the pilot script of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in Peggy's lap, asking for her thoughts.

These are the same Nugents who just answered that Quinnipiac poll claiming that Fox News is the most trusted news source. We simply have to put some anti-gullible remedy in the water at some point…

Tina doesn't have the requisite anger for the job. Or at least, she doesn't like displaying that much anger in her comedy on a daily basis.

YES. He has a similar sense of humor, similar leanings, and the same low threshhold for bullshit. I like it.

Very happy to see any mention of The Roches. I could use a shot of that debut album right about now.

They've been filming in HD since season 4, infact I remember a press release from Logo saying that while it takes time and money for the channel to make the switch, all their original programs are already being filmed in HD for when the time comes.

He rules the Tonys. Those are his people, and his tone and temperment go over much better there. He also clearly has a ball doing it. Keep your Hugh Jackman with his 200 pearly white teeth. Neil is the king of the Tonys opening number:

And still slippin' it to Ally McBeal, no less.

He got off the plane.
