The fact that you do not have a mirror between the sensor and the lens makes the camera smaller, ( less width) but also allows for smaller ( shallower lenses), no mirror to clean, but ALSO they tend to be sturdier, as there are fewer moving parts inside the camera, quieter ( mirror mirror) and yes cheaper.
