Yeh, you are more confident then I am.. I obviously have my own viewpoint on Trump, and he doesnt seem like a Pro-Science type of person to me. With a republican Congress, im scared of what he might do..

I know what the difference is between SLS and FH, my point was that 99.9% of the people in this country will not know. All they will see is a rocket that took people around the moon, FH did it as well as SLS did it. Of course they wont realize that SLS can do much more.

Moon, sure, but what about Mars? I have a hard time believing any private company is going to be able to do it (despite what Elon says).

Guess it depends on what you mean by ‘A lot’. In that sense, I meant compared to the rest of the U.S. I should have been clearer.

I hope you are right, but I think you give the republicans way to much credit. Trumps $54 Billion in defense spending is going to come from someplace, and my bet is NASA is going to be a target.

Of course they are not but try explaining that to 99.9% of the population. Better yet, try explaining that to congress. The same congress that has congressman bringing in Snowballs to prove that global warming doesn’t exist.

Fair enough, but I would still argue using the technology of the time, despite any amount of testing, was still a huge risk in going to the moon. I’d argue the technology was at its limit in doing what it could to get 3 people to the moon and back. If it wasnt for the Space Race, and the USSR I dont think such a

As long as we can assure it’s a moon landing.. One way or another.

I totally agree! I’m still angry at Obama for cancelling Constellation. It may not have been perfect, but christ, pick a direction and go! I have little faith that Trump wont cancel SLS/Orion.

I totally understand all of that, and agree with you. I think the issue comes back (as someone else said) a continuing change of vision. I have no faith that our Cheeto in charge will not go after SLS like Obama went after Constellation.

Congress and the President. Yes, Totally agree. You cant have a 10 year plan if every 2-4 years you have a new set of politicians changing your funding and direction.

Interesting. If Musk pulls this off, its going to be a PR disaster for NASA. SLS was supposed to do this after 2018, if a private company can do it before then, it asks the question of why do we need SLS?

Right.. I thought they also could slide for maintenance though, but for a warshot they were blown off.

Even thats highly doubtful. You would need to get the shroud off, disconnect the warhead, and then move it. Those warheads way many hundreds of pounds. You would need some heavy machinery to do that.

We still have those on buildings in my town. I’m about 15 miles from a primary military target on the east coast, and probably just as close to a bunch of secondary targets. Suffice it to say, if war came with Russia I wouldn’t really need to go and look for those signs.

Nice article, just a slight mistake. The Minuteman III can actually carry 3 MIRV warheads. Currently they are deployed with a single warhead because of the START treaty, but they have the capability of carrying more.

Huh? I said they had a large Muslim population in Detroit, not that they are sending a lot of fighters to Syria. My guess is a few dozen, if that.

Okay, so, you’re saying I can’t just read a few blogs and dive in? :)

Neat job, I couldnt even begin to imagine how one gets into that business. My knowledge is cursory, but thank you.

Support, some of them, yes, ambivalent towards, most of them.
