One of the funny things about how we talk about MANY issues is this:

Unions, even the corrupt, exploitative ones, can in theory be controlled by employees (if the employees vote for better leadership).

What control do non-union employees have over corruption and being exploited? Even in theory...none.

You’re describing the way things are, again.
I’m asking...Do you think ‘the way things are’ is good?

Repeating “this is the way things are” doesn’t really answer my question.

And you don’t have to answer it. I truly meant, without snark “Food for thought”, with an implied “whenever you’re ready to think about it.”

Fair critique. Management is never corrupt.
Having corrupt unions is way worse than having looking-out-for-workers-best-interests management. It’s the clear choice.

This is great comment.

4D3D3D3 went on to say... “This is all true. I know this because I read it on the internet after I googled “why unions suck”.”

Being in bad work environments create all the conditions you lament - not unions.

Companies are going to outsource whatever they can regardless.

It’s not like they look at their spreadsheets and say...
$8 for American workers
$.80 for Thai workers.
But....the $8 workers aren’t union, so we’ll let them keep their jobs.

If BOTH options are equally corrupt...

What makes the non-union version preferable?
Put another way...why is not having a vote on who your leadership is, better than having a vote on who your leadership is?
Put another way...why is having no influence at all on whether corrupt folks stay in power better than having some

So...what evidence do you have that unions caused jobs to go overseas?

Food for starting to think about it:

This would be funny, if you didn’t legitimately think:

Confirmation bias, ftw!

Fuck. I hope you’re not my union rep.

Fair point.

This is both a fair an unfair criticism.

Conclusory.

What proof (other than your repeated exclamations) do you have that unions favor the incompetent?

This is classic confirmation bias.

Pro tip: Comments that start “So you’re saying...” are almost always a strawman.
Rather than attacking the lamest possible version of an argument, pretend there is someone else in the world who might - just MIGHT - be as smart as you. And attack the best version of their argument.
