You mean Jalopik that’s on it’s final legs? Soon Jalopnik will be a site for ads only.

Jalopnik is barely here as is.

Jalopnik for sure

Poll: Which one will shut down first?

So, yes, they are responsible for the change in market.

Mad Bruh?

People can have strange reactions with new things.

Any company has a low chance of success. That's just the nature of business. Unless you produce something completely necessary and irreplaceable,  there's always the chance of the market rejecting your product or someone else doing it cheaper and/or better.

More unbelievable is how many home depot ratchet straps are in that lede photo.

VW is serious. Germany and greater Europe’s emissions policy is forcing them to be so. The partnership with Ford, who has committed to their skateboard is the way forward for legacy manufacturing - spreading the costs and increasing economies of scale.

Always a good idea to trash EVs before selling what you hope will be your mass market full-EV. Does anybody actually want to buy an EV from a company that outright states that they don’t believe anybody wants EVs?

Because it takes years of R&D to actually build an electric car that doesn’t have garbage range and efficiency, and to actually build up the production capabilities to be able to build enough battery packs for them? Even much wealthier manufacturers are finding themselves heavily constrained and delaying many of their

This is such a bad take lol

Given how few EVs there are (I can walk into a Ford dealership and buy how many exactly?) the fact that they’re even in single figures is amazing. It speaks volumes about how Tesla was able to create and move a market all by themselves.

And he’s not factually wrong. EVs make up 2.2% of the global fleet. Total duds like their own Clarity electric go some way to explaining that pathetic number, of course.

It’s incredibly ironic that the head of a company making an electric car that has captured the hearts of the entire Jalopnik staff thinks nobody wants electric cars.

As much as I love Honda, they need to get their ass in gear on electric cars.  If they think that people are going to continue to put up with having to go to a gas station in order for their car to run (even if it is a super efficient hybrid), they seriously need to smoke some weed.

Japan’s auto industry knows what side its bread is buttered on. I read a Japanese article in 2012 that detailed their existential dread with the threat of electrification. Their auto parts makers are shivering in their boots and the auto manufacturers aren’t far behind. All the terror is rooted in the fact that
