The motors are inboard with a shaft.

Mech and Armor guys call it a Pivot Steer and say its a good way to throw a track

Because it fits so easily into their political outlook.

I’m confused as well per IRS guidelines these folks clearly meet the requirements for IC status. I can see debating how people are treated or the disparity of leverage in negotiations etc but I don’t really understand why people are arguing that drivers for Uber’s are misclassified w2s.

It’s because they don’t bother trying to understand the legal/logistical realities of the situation. That’s the problem when you live in an echo chamber and blindly pledge faith to a political ideology without exercising a healthy amount of skepticism (or at the very least, read the fine print).

I’m still trying to understand the whole “they are employees” thing. Why is Uber any different than Airbnb or Ebay? They’re providing a technical service to connect suppliers with customers.

Hookers and coke dealers need a basic living wage.

Faraday Future poached a bunch of people from BMW and other big german companies, but that still turned out to be a disasterpiece. Having all the best talent doesn’t mean much if they aren’t enabled at the workplace, but it sounds like Rivian has their engineers covered on that front

There’s an interesting article on Teslarati by Christian Prenzler (before Rivian hired the former intern) where as of mid-year last year they were finalising production processes. That’s a full 24 months before they start manufacturing. I don’t doubt their capabilities.

Omg that’s so much better. Thank you. I hate those lights

I’m rooting for all EVs, but to expect a startup that has zero sales to date and is on v0.1 to compete with Tesla’s fifth (?) generation of ev is absurd. Hell, Audi and Porsche are still generations behind despite having some experience building cars and some resources to invest...

OK, I love to crap on Elon but the Model S and Model 3 are good looking. Now, the Model X and truck shaped overcompensator I will totally agree on.

They’ve been in pre-production for a while. I’m confident they’ll ship towards the end of this year.

I can’t help but wonder if this company will ever ship a product.

We’ve had so many promises and so many billions of dollars spent on vapour....

I wonder how much it costs to also make attractive cars.

I base my assertion on recent drives in Washington, DC, where narrow roadways, speed cameras and the constant presence of electric rental scooters makes driving a nerve wracking experience. Perhaps the low speed, narrow roads are now safer for the scooter renters. Oddly, pedestrians and cyclists seemed to present less

Re 5th Gear: A lot of declarative sentences there proclaiming the value of lower speed limits, narrow roads, speed bumps and speed cameras to catch dangerous drivers and reduce accidents.

Just because someone is well off, doesn’t mean that they throw their money around nonchalantly. My father would have never bought a plug in if it weren’t for the tax credit, even though he could absolutely afford one. An incentive is an incentive, an the EV tax credit has, for sure, sold more vehicles than if it

I’m fine with the EV credits if that’s the path we’re going to take, but I think the phase-out needs to be much more gradual than it is.
