Have you ever driven a minivan offroad? 

CRV is for my mom (literally she drives one). The Mazda is for my sister in law. The Subie is what we take camping, with a bunch of crap thrown in the back, bike rack on the rear, and no worries about where the road runs out on the way to camping. Used as intended its a perfect tool.

I have the Honda Accord 2.0 with 6MT. I love it. It follows a 2017 STI. the Honda has lots of performance in an adult package. And it’s a lot quieter.  The smaller engine version is also quick and more frugal, and probably can be found new within the price range.

I bought the 2019 Accord Sport 6 MT which is nicely equipped but missing things like leather seats (?).  I would have purchased a Touring Model if they offered it with the Manual to get the near luxury equipment.  But Honda won’t let me.  Once they have certified the model for the manual transmission, can’t they sell…

I’ve been turning my car upside down for years when camping. More space to spread out and the engine block keeps everyone warm.  When its just me, I flip it on the side and sleep on the door.  No problems yet with dents.  

Gawd sometimes I think Jalopnik is a parody account. They don’t have hoodscoops because the hard core dog walkers who buy Outbacks know that their engines will ingest large amounts of dust pulling in and out of the dog park’s unpaved parking lots.

At least you’ve got a good sense of humor about it. When I was a kid I worked at a car wash and “drove” vettes and mustangs and the like, all of about 50 feet. As to your other comment, I live in San Diego, so it’s a rare car that costs more than a house here.

I own a 2017 STi, and its got enough power for daily driving, which is how I use mine. What the next generation should have is 300+ hp, and get 35 mph on the freeway.
