They’ve been so unsuccessful that there are currently 5 star trek series and a movie in production. Because entertainment companies will continually throw millions of dollars for over 5 years at a flailing franchise.  

Voyager itself was helmed by one Borg and a medical hologram for an extended period of time. The USS Prometheus was able to fend off Romulans with 2 EMH’s. Think these kids will be alright.

Covid 19 shut down season 3 early in pre-production. Despite being produced at roughly the same time as Season 3 of tar Trek Discovery Season 3 of Orville wasn’t able to get everyone underway until much much later.
