Ioniq EV, Kona EV, E-Niro, Soul EV all with the same battery and powertrain. If you think you’ll sell enough for 4 models, that's gotta be enough cars to sell them nationwide.

Correct. Georgia and Florida are not CARB states and the automakers are not required to sell EVs here (I’m in Georgia). When an EV is a CARB-only special, it means the manufacturer is making little to no profit on it and don’t want to bother with states they aren’t required to sell them in.

This analysis is bass-ackwards. Those numbers are *because* they only offer most of their EVs (e.g. Golf EV) in zero emissions (i.e. CARB) states because those states *require* zero emissions vehicles as a % of overall sales.

Its rated at 250 miles and many people who own them have reported as high as 300 miles. That’s a pretty long range...

Tesla has not maintained profitability. They’ve had one quarter in the green in the company’s history. Annually, they’ve taken a loss every year so far.

Being that the i3 is the number one car they benchmarked, yeah I’m pretty sure it’s on purpose. It’s faster, cheaper, longer range, better appointed, about the same footprint with a larger interior, and slightly less ugly!

I think your comparison to the past Malibu designs undersells the new one. It looks wonderful. It is every bit as good loooking as any car in its class. It is a very striking design that gets all of the details right. Very modern and classy.
