No major car companies that started as part of the Detroit Big 3 make competent small trucks, vans, and sub-compacts in the U.S. Either they’re global cars from one of their European branches or captive imports. This is because they can sell larger vehicles such as SUVs, CUVs, and trucks with huge profit margins.

This is a good comment.

Also this chicken tax would’ve hurt me personally had it been place for my last car purchases, a japanese made Honda Fit with very high Japan made parts content. My $17,000 car would’ve become a $21,250 car (and that’s with no markup beyond the tariff), that’s a HUGE difference.

Small cars like

Wait? We’re going to make it easier for poor and ethnic minorities to vote?!

Anyone can weld. Most shouldn’t.

I see no way this could end poorly.

I just don’t get the hate for Lexus’ styling. Yes, their spindle grille is shocking at first, but it took me all of 24 hours to learn to love it.  They now make the best looking cars in their respective segments.  And that’s before we get to their interiors which are simply world-class.

I rode one, pretty good chassis and reasonable handling let down by the motor and especially the agricultural transmission. Seriously 1920 John Deere’s shift better then that transmission.

This is too much emotion for a friday...ripping out my heart strings.

Well, everyone who is smart and not racist, greedy, evil, Russian, etc.

Fixed, easy peasy.

Yep. I tried to buy this car twice, but sat down inside the strangely small cabin, looked at the glassy black touch panel smeared with fingerprints, and couldn’t bring myself to sitting in that place day after day.

Interiors sell luxury cars and GM can’t build an interior, at all ever. American cars are generally terrible on the inside but GM is play school recycled sewerpipe. The new Tahoe isn’t abhorrent, as it was designed by a woman with functional eyes.

Very little is triangulated in that cage and there are all sorts of unsupported bends. Fundamentally, it’s very wrong. And in the still of the YT video, you can see one of the roll hoop “supports” (which should converge to the middle of the bend) popped clean off the roll hoop vertical.

Super sad but let me say this. THIS is the reason the auto community needs to come together and be LESS judgmental and MORE welcoming. This idea isn’t “stupid” it’s just that this individual didn’t know what he didn’t know. You can’t just “make up” physics... there are reasons cages are designed the way they are.

Because no ES buyer cares and Lexus never pushed the GS hard enough as a 5er/E class alternative.

1st gear - if Pruitt really believed in small government, then he’d leave the issue alone entirely and let the automakers choose how they want to handle California. They have three options: make all cars meet the California standard, make cars that don’t meet the California standard but can with a software change or

That’s not really the point. It’s the “want” thing that’s missing on these Caddies, so it’s interesting that this guy actually wants one.

The problem with the inside of Cadillacs is that they look great in the photos, and then you sit in one. I really want to like the Cadillac line-up. I think their exterior design is striking. But every time I sit in one, all I can think is that I really want out of there... Like, quickly! Upon close inspection,

*whispers* It’s almost like he’s not a good businessman
