@exoren22: Very real - actually the concept initiator (Cylons were referred to as 'toasters')
@imajoebob: Mmmm yeah turkey jerky, sounds so delicious. Of course it makes phenomenal gravy, all the flavor has cooked out with the juices. I'll stick with the brined.
@Ishbar: Water is drawn out of the cells until the salinity inside the cells matches that of the brine, then the brine (water and salt) can flow back inside the cells since the osmotic pressure is the same inside and outside. #thanksgiving
Work - Windows XP (and IE6, yuck!)
When I remember I'm watching on the DVR, I'll FF through the ads. Most of the time I'm multi-tasking, skipping the ads would mean I have to stop whatever else I'm doing to get the remote and do it. #tv
Timely article - had some rather tough top sirloin that I decided to grind and put in a casserole last night, pulled out the KitchenAid grinder and the partially frozen steak, two passes on coarse and into the skillet. The West Bend collects moisture and makes it soggy, and air popped is bland and…
@spanky: Oh yeah, and that sandwich you borrowed has minced shrimp in it, and, oh wait, the diabetic just happens to be allergic to seafood too. Way to kill him, doc.
And they tested them boiled, of course. What better way to wash out nutrients than to submerge them in water that usually gets thrown out after cooking. Did they test steaming or stir-frying or any other way of cooking to see if it had a similar effect?
The only two lists that I even update on a regular basis are my christmas card list (spreadsheet) and the christmas gift list (text document, should convert it into a spreadsheet, maybe I'll put that on a 'to do' list...)
@Omrikon: Agreement here - mostly because I'm a bacon fan
