It’s not just you. I read it a couple years back when Mieville was the flavor of the month and it seemed like an interesting premise (I thought maybe there was some sort of parallel dimension thing going). Turns out it was a crap premise. Partly just because, as you mention, people don’t work that way. Partly because

Not the first time this has been done, but I ain’t complaining:

Love this movie and I have it sitting on my desk *right now* because I picked it up on BD for $5 at Best Buy yesterday.

Just wanted to point out that the Best Buy $5 deal includes "Push", which is a good movie that didn't get the exposure it deserved. It's a "realistic" take on people with superpowers (if you liked "Alphas", I can almost guarantee that you'll like this movie). Of course, the main attraction is Chris Evans.

“Whatcha doing today?”

Would I DD this because it’s hilariously hideous and 80’s-tastic?

Yes. I got one the last time they were on sale at Amazon, and the audible ticking is my one complaint about it. In my book, it's not a deal-breaker, but it is a consideration. For instance, at night, I leave it on my desk or in the bathroom, not in the bedroom.

I may have just spit on my keyboard.

All the stars for you. It's kind of hard to find good pics of the C7 in Lime Rock Green. I've seen one in person, though, and it was glorious.

Yeah, Centauri's Starcar shows up just parked on the street towards the beginning of BttF3. Made my day the first time I noticed it, since I LOVE the Last Starfighter and the Starcar is one of my favorite movie cars ever.

No comic book character is immune to poor writing. Cap's had plenty of not-so-great stories, but that's true of anybody who's been in comic books for that long. Just read the good stuff (e.g.: Brubaker) and ignore the bad stuff.

I watched this movie so many times when I was a kid. For the longest time, we just had a crappy VHS that my grandpa recorded off of TV. He was pretty big into doing that, but always recorded in super long play or whatever it was called so he could fit 3 movies onto one tape and he would always pause during

I think we should all aspire to be the sort of people who can legitimately be introduced as "the extremely sideways so-and-so".

Don't forget:

There's a lot to like about SC4, but SC2 still *feels* better to me. I don't know if it's the controller, something about the speed/timing of the game, or just that I've put less time into SC4, but I just feel less in control and resort to more button-mashing. Maybe one of these days I'll pony up the $20 for Soul

So true! I've spent quite a bit of time with SC2 on GC. Then I went to SC3 and 4 on PS2 and PS3 and I still miss the GC button layout. You can use the shoulder buttons for the combos that you can't physically do on the DualShock, but it's not the same.

I would DD an Olds PowerOak Estate. I assume it comes with faux oak-grain side panels.

Reminds me of YouTube user Buffalax, who did homophonic translations for a lot of foreign language music videos. I think maybe his account was banned or something, but a lot of his videos have been either reuploaded or recreated. This is one of my favorites:
