The Z06 performance package was first offered on the '63 (C2) Corvette. I don't think (although I'm not sure) that it was an option on the C3 or C4, but came back for the C5.
It wasn't really like they missed a whole year of production, so I guess it still counts?
You know, for all the folks who seem to be waiting for a mid-engine Corvette, and the various mid-engine concept/prototypes there have been over the years, I like that the Corvette has the engine in the front for that laid-back long hood look.
At a quick glance, I can't tell if it's coming or going.
