Back in 1999-2000 I was taking a flight from Bern to Munich (then onto Toronto) - halfway to the airport in a taxi I had to explain to the driver in painfully broken German that I had forgotten my paper ticket in my hotel room. Crazy Taxi’d it back to the hotel with the driver making some terse calls to the hotel (the

Our PBS affiliate would run reruns of the original British version after Doctor Who back in the day. To this day I remember an old English folk song about television that John Sessions made up and performed a cappella that brought the house down.

Al Yankovic, short and grey for “Drunk History”:

“sheared Al Yankovic”

This is the first track I’ve heard from the album, and being old enough to know the original Commodores’ version note for note - I was expecting to cringe, but I dug it, and I actually like the arrangement quite a bit. It feels a little “uncle doing karaoke at a wedding” (albeit an uncle I’ve wanted to climb like a

Larry’s approval ratings are already higher than Boris and Liz’s peak combined scores and he’s less likely to publicly embarrass himself than either. Otherwise the pickings were slim to begin with - who’s left? Sunak? Mordaunt?  The lettuce?

One of my friends was doing some aerial mapping in South America with a helicopter pilot who had a bag and it burst while they were in the air.  Over twenty years later he still gags telling the story.

My siblings and I basically memorized “BUY THIS, PIGS!” back in the day and still yell “IT COULD HAPPEN” at each other. Also apparently she dated Emo Phillips back in the day and few things have made more sense in the world.

They scaled “Bob’s Burgers” coverage back to “the occasional drop-in” several seasons ago. Seems like they’ve also scaled back the review itself to “show recap with letter grade” but at this point in the show’s existence there isn’t much to actually critique, at least for me. It still does what it does pretty

As someone who’s been a fan of his since seeing “Dune” in the theatre in its original run, you could sum up a number of entries in MacLachlan’s filmography with “a fine xxx in the somewhat atrocious yyy”.

Hey AVC, check out the proper way to pluralize “Emmy” while you’re at it.  NB: it’s not with an apostrophe.

The ol’ AVC, she ain’t what she used to be.  Here’s a link to the article with the trailer: https://www.avclub.com/confess-fletch-trailer-jon-hamm-john-slattery-chevy-cha-1849459585

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

IIRC he was AVC-adjacent back in the late 00s - I think back in the Keith Phipps days several AVC contributors were on his “Sound of Young America” podcast.

I suspended my distaste for savescumming for a spell back in the 00's and STILL haven’t ascended.

Well, now I’m going to be playing nethack all weekend because I’ve spent decades on it and I STILL haven’t ascended...
