Gotta say that "an old BBC show called Prime Suspect..." makes me feel super old. That was appointment viewing only ... 26 years ago? Thought it was only last month.

Doesn't "What I most cants the least is do not a bad job but always a good" sound like it came from Trump's inaugural?
It’s prob the first show that’s portrayed the modern day millennial teen right. Instead of the Sexy Teen Girls the CW churns out, Tina is proudly weird, into fandoms, wants a bf but doesn’t get one, way too in her head.
“It’s Gayle’s boobs and butt all over again!”
I love that Teddy somehow ended up getting roped into that one, too.
I’m (mildly) irritated that the review isn’t on the “front page.”
It’s kind of amazing how Bob’s Burgers has (at least in my opinion) managed to keep Teddy juuuuust on the loveable side of “loveable loser.” He's a character that could go horribly wrong, but something about his attitude and Larry Murphy's wonderful voice work make it funny instead of sad.
You probably know this already :)—Adam and Steve was an insulting phrase used by Jerry Falwell, may he rot in hell —”it’s not Adam and STEVE, it’s Adam and EVE” so I was delighted that they used it.
Nat has absolutely become one of my favorite recurring characters, which is impressive for a character who didn’t debut until 8 seasons in. This show has such a treasure trove of weirdos with sad-but-not-too-sad lives. The snakes being named Adam and Steve is funny on so many levels (hell, I JUST made the snake/Garden…
Why isn’t this review on the front page?
Haha, it’s funny because rape is among the most horrific things a human can do to another human but it’s okay to normalize it in a prison setting.
I loved how he mentioned Del Grande and David Cronenberg working on the same show because Del Grande is the explodin head guy from Scanners
One of my favourite reads on here in a while! I love it when you get actors who love telling stories, but they’re not the stories you’ve heard a million times on chat shows, etc.
Wow, I’ve been hoping for a Saul Rubinek RR for a long time, and this does not disappoint. Well, there is the tiny disappointment that you didn’t get to Person Of Interest, in which he plays Finch’s old MIT buddy (and inventor of Samaritan) Arthur Claypool, but Rubinek has been in so many things that it would be…
A nice interview with a quintessential “Oh, it’s that guy” character actor. I thought he was very well used on “Frasier” and the producers gave his character a really nice, honestly uncomfortable coda when Daphne tries to talk to him about potentially marrying another woman on the rebound and he puts her in her place…
Oh man, this is great stuff. A total pro, not taking shit from Tony Scott, going for the Wall Street lawyer role to finance his other stuff, rolling into a next-day Star Trek role. Excellent work, Will.
Thank you for writing these interviews out again, rather than just using video.
Good interview, but any discussion of Rubinek’s career is incomplete with asking about “The Outside Chance of Maximillian Glick”.
I just can’t picture anyone else in the role. The Young Indies are fine because they’re not supposed to represent the character in his iconic heyday, but I just can’t see someone else replacing Ford on the big screen.
Any actor who’s been suggested sounds like terrible miscasting to me, especially Chris Pratt, who I…
Goddammit, now I wish someone would make a blockbuster treasure-hunting thrill ride with Bruce motherfucking Campbell.
