Unfortunately, my friend, there is no faithful adaptation of this novel. Each movie skipped important elements from the novel. In any case, which adaptation are you talking about? The Omega Man with Charlton Heston (ugh)? In a way, the end is pretty similar to the Will Smith vehicle. The Last Human sacrifices himself…

What I was wondering is, will he now continue to haunt that room like the other ghosts? Even though he chose his death? How come he's on the same plane as his daughter? I Am Legend defied the original story which is one of my all time favourite novel. To me the title meant: I AM LEGEND. The last of all humans. Therefore, making me a monster and a killer in this new world.
