Right? Why would people on set even have boots to do this with in the first place?

It definitely would, but a company owned by the parent would be better to do business with in the parent's eyes, wouldn't it?
This. I would think maybe Fiat might jump in here and assume majority control. Makes sense for them, and would be similar to how VAG shifted Giugiaro into Lamborghini's house back in 2010.
To play off the theoreticals here, even the malt-liquor pounding, lawn dart throwing, unadulterated moron fills some kind of a need in our society. If these people existed only to stand there and be dumb, I would probably lobby for their removal too. But just being an idiot is, unfortunately, not enough of a demerit…
I agree that all of this is somewhat self-fulfilling: the more dependence on common sense we remove from the side of the consumer, the bigger role the companies will be forced to take.
And your beliefs also have merit. I'm not trying to show that Liebeck played no part in this, and I think it is important to reiterate that she was found to be partly responsible.
It's not even my point of view, it's the ruling in the case itself along with information disclosed during the trial.
I was with you until your blanket association of dumb drivers with Toyotas.
One day I just looked in my wallet and said "what is all this stuff?" then realized most of it didn't need to be there. You have to change some behaviors to run a slimmed-down billfold, but it's been worth it in my eyes.
Why would they fork over that much cash, then?
I would be careful citing that McDonald's case as a comparison for anything. I used to blame the woman, too because, DUH COFFEE IS HOT but there are a lot of details in that case that will make you think twice:
[look of disapproval]

Oh I never give them my email, but the phone is google voice anyway so it's harmless. If you've ever used a credit card in a pharmacy or a big box store, they already have all the info they need to send you a river of advertisements. And your credit card company is selling your information to partners and affiliates,…
As far as club cards go, I use something like this:
3rd Gear:
Oh and he kung-fu kicks a woman, too. He is an equal-opportunity woman kicker/puncher.
Yep, another woman. He becomes a board certified woman-puncher by the end of the film, having doubled his woman-punch quota:
No, it happened, and we should all have to watch it once a year so we do not forget what a travesty it is!
That could bee it! But don't worry, I'm not apis'd off about it or anything.
