As much as the “I’m donating so that xyz will get a card” phenomenon annoys me, truth is if you bring in new donors that wouldn’t have donated without that motivation, it can be a benefit to the organizational overall.

Wondered if this one was worth an article:
If that cost was really so prohibitive, you’d think the good administration of Planned Parenthood would stop offering the certificate service. Or at least that they’d mention how much it ruins everything to have to do it.
Indeed. I also hope more donate to smaller, grassroots orgs that don’t have rich celebrities throwing money their way. Donating to P.P, ACLU is great but do look into ones that communities rely on that will be the first to fall by the wayside without extra help. Examples of some smaller, radical, more grassroots…
The postage is about 15 cents, and since they can more easily send the thank you cards to one person than 20,000 different people, it’s probably cheaper (and about a quarter a pop). But you can up your donation by that much if it concerns you.
It’s the least I can do and I only wish I had started sooner.
I had a lightning bolt moment this summer. While reading up on Pence I remembered a college course in Women’s History during which the professor wept as she spoke of Margaret Sanger and the death of Sadie Sachs. At the time I was a 19 year old from a farm…
I re-watched Rachel Maddow’s brilliant take down of the anti-abortion argument.
THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING!
I was recently laid off and have been volunteering at PP. When the volunteer coordinator asked why I wanted to volunteer, I replied, “Pence.”
And as soon as I find another job you can bet your ass I’ll be making that monthly donation as well.
(Good luck in your job search!)
I will say this again: We need to donate to Planned Parenthood. But white women, we also need to pay off some of that karma Samantha Bee was talking about and donate to a cause that doesn’t directly affect us.
Why exactly would talking about a movie make someone less shallow in your eyes than talking about clothes and makeup? If someone posted exclusively about cars or their pets on social media, would you also be so judgey, or do you reserve that for interests that have traditionally been exclusively feminine?
This is a terribly written dirtbag. First of all, why the snark for Kristin Davis? Are you serious right now? This is a mother genuinely and articulately concerned for her black daughter. And secondly, the Kardashians were set to go to that dinner before Kanye was committed. In fact, Kim was in midair when she…
Geez, this sneering at poor Charlotte there really doesn’t seem warranted. She’s a mom. She’s scared for her kid. She has good reason to be scared for her kid. Are we supposed to be laughing at her? This isn’t funny.
If the tone you were going for in the Kristin Davis section was total asshole, you really nailed it.
I don’t get the snark on Kristin Davis.
Or by children and poor families being denied necesssary recources to keep them from repeating the cycle of poverty. I mean, there’s far better reasons to care about poor kids, but you’d think being able to improve the lives and economy of Americans would be reason enough
Or the racist history of his Cabinet. Or the fact that Neo Nazis are proclaiming his election as a victory. Or etc etc etc
Exactly! How dare you use that word !!!
i would take pro-lifers a lot more seriously if they worked to reduce the demand for abortions rather than just cutting off the supply. If you make them all illegal tomorrow, people are still going to get them, it will just be dangerous for everyone involved. Why not work to make birth control and education…
The majority of abortions in the U.S. are provided by independent clinics; those not affiliated with Planned Parenthoods or hospitals.
