Every Audi except for the A3/Q3 has a longitudinal engine. Since the engine sits above the axle, rather than in front like a transverse layout, there’s a better weight distribution and sexier proportions.

Precisely. If it was based on a RWD platform and had 4 wheel drive, it would affect handling, proportions, capability, price, and options. You truly could get a scaled down Escalade.

Ok, they might be right when they say most CUV buyers don’t care whether it’s FWD-based or RWD-based, but why push away the buyers that do?

They were complete crap because they were built on the same chassis and assembly line as crappy cars.

I do. Two places they cut corners: Chassis and gauge cluster.

The XT5 is a midsize CUV for compact CUV prices.

Most CUV buyers don’t care about the chassis, but some do, I’m confident that the share of those who do increases with price. Once you’re talking about 60k and up, people start caring. That’s why the XT5 can’t command those high transaction prices you see on the X5 or GLE.

Why? Because the SRX got CHEAPER. The X5 and the XT5 are competing in the same SIZE class, but the XT5 is priced like an X3. It’s a value play Cadillac needs to get away from if they want to charge German prices.
