I think Blockbuster bought Turtles, right? At least the Turtle locations I went to in TN and GA became Blockbuster Music.

Media Play actually has it as an exclusive. I think I still have enough on my Replay card to buy this for only $18.99!
Ah, yes, forgot about Dragnet.
You're not wrong, but it was more the way things shook out on the show dramatically that struck me as soapy, more so than the actual events. The two-faced brother seemed particularly hard to swallow, at least to the extent he went from nice boy to pure satanic evil. That was a particularly Aaron Spelling-y moment.
Agree. It got a little soapy in the second season what with all the twists and turns and the bad guys being just so bad they were practically twirling their mustaches. I think if any less qualified people than Soderbergh and that cast had been involved, I might not have enjoyed it, but they managed to pull it off and…
Oh they didn't stop
they were a unique case, because it owed so much to the audience's memories of the show and recreating the actual show to a painstaking degree in order to poke fun at the anachronisms and cheese.
The Brady Bunch movies were also straight up parodies of the series. I suppose they were treated reverently because they were almost an exact copy of the series, but played for ironic laughs this time.
I do think them changing his age to be a little older without changing anything else about his past is a bit problematic. For instance, a 4 year marriage that ends in your mid-20s would surely be devastating, but I'd imagine a ten year marriage ending in your early to mid 30s would be even more life changing. Also,…
Jerry's level of fame in Seinfeld the show is probably comparable to Pete's level of fame IRL in 2017.

Nevertheless, seems like kind of an important movie to miss the boat on.
Krasinski apparently came up with the idea for Manchester by the Sea but didn't receive a story by credit (though he did get an EP credit). He also was originally set to play the Affleck part. Now he's making a Platinum Dunes horror film. This is a string of poor career decisions.
He seems happy to compromise on budget, which puts him in the same company as the Coens, Tarantino, the Andersons (PT and Wes), etc. Seems like the sky is still the limit, creatively.
I'm not sure this show has made me laugh out loud yet, yet I'm still enjoying it.
This may actually be the most accurate part
Loved the subtle nod to the '80s anti-drug ad "I learned it from watching you!" God, that ad played for at least 15 years.
Frankie making that big table of treats to celebrate Brick made me tear up. That show knows how to get to me. Also, I don't think Mike is the type to fire someone like that, and in general it can…
Loved the show. I mean, it was hit or miss, but seeing as how (at least early on) it was a guy who barely knew what he was doing making an animated sitcom, it was pretty damn good. And the music video stuff was just him improvising. I realize he's a millionaire many times over and people love Office…
