I think it’s just the juxtaposition of several factual things—she was an “ex” fiance, she was murdered, production of his show is shutting down—in one line that is making it feel that way. I don’t actually think the AV Club is implying that.

That kind of thing is adorable, like when she hasn’t seen John Wick but knows that they did SOMETHING to a puppy.

Does the headline falsely imply Carey might be involved or am I being paranoid?

IDK I thought the “sweeping reform candidate with ACTUAL FUCKING STEP-BY-STEP PLANS” was a pretty great niche but what do I know

Mommy Is Living Forever.

I appreciate how the episode acknowledges upfront how the whole big and little fish concept excludes a sixth grader like Gene, and then has him crash all the key events anyway by pretending to be an eighth grader, which is to say wearing a tie and saying the word “algebra” a lot.

“Ooh, wait until Mort and Teddy touch your butt tomorrow!”

Your father and I are both MILF’s now!”

I say this as someone who is a trans reader and longtime commenter here: this article does not really help to advocate for trans issues. The idea of “variation exists, therefore it’s fine” does not adequately address this issue. A better set of arguments is:

Your whole stance of “trans women are bigger, stronger and faster, so just deal” seems very dismissive.

I 100% believe these girls who were born as boys identify as female and are trans.

Why do you always give Wendy the benefit of the doubt? She’s a monumental jerkhole and she always has been. She’s a bandwagon-hopping, homophobic, transphobic, ignorant jerk. She should go back to something useful, like deep-frying wigs.

What she saw was him disappear in an explosion, or at best get sucked into the Upside-Down.  Either one would be sufficient for a person who doesn't know they're in a story to assume he's dead.

Although it’s not all good news for our ‘American’; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other.

This is a great review. I think it glosses a bit over just how creepy Tom Hank’s character is during the film, but now I’m curious to see it again. Joe completely grossed me out when I first saw it. I guess that means I’ll never fall in love with a Republican.

I mean he did have pretty crap parents.

My first thought is that he must have spent years grooming his daughter to help with all this and the article supports that. As the leader of the friends group and the organizer for the housing, she probably picked his victims for him.

NXVIM has to be the most bizarre thing I’ve heard.

The real news here is the magical steering wheel that is visible in still images but invisible on video.
