One of my favourite things about “Black Beauty” is all the movie adaptations, and how off book some off them go. I swear there is an animated version where Black Beauty gets kidnapped by a villainous mine owner and the two plucky children who love him have to go rescue.

Yes! As a kid it went ENTIRELY over my head how much of the book was Anna Sewell just basically saying her piece about social values, both related and unrelated to horse care. Like in the Jerry Barker section there’s an entire chapter that’s about the election and which party good respectable decent people vote for.

I’m leaning towards it being either Dolores herself (as the more innocent iteration) or her dad.

I recently listened to a movie podcast where one of the hosts said the role of Peter should have been played by Colin Firth or someone. No fucking way! Jack Davenport’s performance of that sincerity and innocence, and his chemistry with Matt Damon (just as potent as Jude Law’s, just of a different type) was

The Talented Mr Ripley has been one of my favourite movies ever since it came out, but I haven’t watched it for a few years so had forgotten the impact and forgotten how it can wreck someone who hasn’t seen it before and doesn’t know what to expect when you’re all “it’s just this great psychological thriller from the

Anyone have early takes on who is operating the Charlotte Hale body? I have no idea except that I’m convinced it’s NOT Teddy as I believe Dolores did do the right thing and upload him to the valley.

My office recently went through the high octane intrigue and drama of selecting a new vending machine. The stakes are real.

“dry, dirt-cheap pasta”

FWIW, I’m a non American food nerd and I find all regional USA cuisines equally interesting. I have the USA book in the Culinaria series and I love it.

Day job: Someone brought their small child into the office and they did a poo under my desk. I did not witness the act of pooing and the co worker and child were gone by the time I found the poo. I cleaned up the poo. The most awkward thing was the next day having the “hey..... it’s ok and I’m not going to lodge a

Yeah. The same powerful men who sleazily objectify beautiful women under their control and offer opportunity and advancement in exchange for compliance are also denying opportunity and due professional interactions to women who they consider unattractive and therefore valueless. This side of Me Too doesn’t get talked

I for sure think the pivot to YouTube and social media is a good thing.

I’m a weirdo who’s had a Bon Appetit subscription for a few years now (also the New Yorker although I’m not even American) and wasn’t really aware the YouTube channel had become its own massive thing until relatively recently, like, the last couple of years. Obviously I love it.

I’m a little bit bummed this wasn’t leading up to her being added to the ensemble full time. She is different enough to everyone else, especially the other two women, and she wouldn’t be accused of being a try hard Gina replacement as she’s pretty much the exact opposite of the pure unfiltered self assurance of that

Also (maybe) Elisabeth Moss plays the lead character June in the Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale” - Elizabeth McGovern played June’s best friend in the film version from the 90s - Elizabeth McGovern co-starred with Kevin Bacon in the romantic dramedy “She’s Having A Baby”.

Or: Elisabeth Moss plays the lead character

OHHHHHH, I didn’t realise “ram-don” was a translation for the English language release release, that makes perfect sense! It puzzled me for a moment because I knew it was jjapaguri and they were clearly saying it, but the subtitles weren’t calling it that. I wondered if it was maybe some weird branding problem, like,
