It’s not even always about your perceived social standing or the image you project to the world - all too often it can be just about your physical appearance, and whether you’re judged not pretty enough to have inflamed a rapist’s lust, or too physically robust to be overwhelmed by an abuser.

There’s a Korean onion ring flavoured and shaped snack that seems very similar to these that is one of my favourite junky snacks. I’d definitely try Funyuns if I ever see them in a shop here in Australia. 

I am truly not fat averse but the few times I’ve bought a piece of guanciale from the oh-so-Italian smallgoods place where I buy such things, its a task to find a piece that isn’t almost all fat with the odd streak of pink here and there.
