I would actually respect him immensely if he somehow managed to stuff an anemic, cobbled-together nightmare of an engine designed after hours by some of the most inept European car makers of our time into this truck.

It’s only relevant if human miles are miles where Autopilot could be used. If the self driving system can only be used in optimal situations but the human driver is confronted with more challenging conditions then it’s not a direct comparison. We’ve taken 15-20 cheap and easy to source parts and combined them into 1 proprietary part that costs 10x as much as the sum of the individual parts and can only be ordered through us!

Because Tesla is cheap and cuts corners wherever it can.

I’ve said it before but I think its ridiculous that its taken this long to put heat pumps into EV’s and the industry shouting about how revolutionary/expensive/future facing/impractical etc etc is hilarious to people who understand this is just air conditioning +

There’s a reason the Fuego is “rare” - the things had a tendency to self-destruct remarkably quickly.

$10k for a Fuego is an AWFUL TERRIBLE NO GOOD deal. don’t do that to yourself, they’re horrible horrible cars.

You do have a point... but I still think, as a mere commoner, that luxury should represent high quality, ageless design, and scarcity. None of those attributes can be used to describe Tesla.

Every time I hear them referred to as a luxury brand it pisses me off. They aren’t luxurious, just expensive.

Tesla.  You will never convince me that those cars are luxury.  Panel gaps I can see through, horrible interiors, “leather” that is just nasty, seats that suck, etc etc etc.
