I hope your daughter is better soon, and I share your annoyance.

This debate always goes down over appropriation. I agree, if your hair is tight and curly then it makes practical sense to wear tight braids. I have really small curls and if I don’t brush my hair for a day, it starts to dread on its own. I refuse to act guilty for appropriation when my hair will dread on its OWN

We borrow from each other’s cultures all the time especially in terms of music, food, and clothing. In my opinion, with something like non-sacred items it’s only appropriation if you lay claim to or receive credit for somehow inventing/discovering something without acknowledging the culture/people who originated it. I’m just wondering at what point are they cornrows vs. European-style complex braids?

If I had to try, I would say it exactly like you did. It’s about the claiming, I think. No one can argue that the style came to be/lasts because it makes so much practical sense. I think with 10, like with this new craze, there’s that air of “Well we did it so it’s popular”

Sounds more to me like Kim just brings her kiddo with her for training sessions sometimes and has them do some fun stuff with her for a few minutes at the end. SHE IS SATAN INCARNATE!!!

Same, man.

I just got myself into the idea of taking GMAT for grad school. Got myself a book and couldn't figure out the first question. Ugh.

Saturday and I’m studying for the GRE and working (from home thank god). Woo! Test date Aug 28th.

Invest in Stila stay all day liquid eyeliner and it will change your life. It's essentially a thin sharpie and it definitely stays all day, no smudges, no nothing.

Well, other than being alone as usual on a Holiday, my worst complaint has to be that you haven't taken me out of the grays yet Madeleine. I am polite, caring, occasionally opinionated but never inflammatory, and I've been a faithful Jezzie since the first month you gals started this. I don't comment a lot, but I
