The AV Club is so compassionate.

You mean the plastic surgery she got after being involved in a car accident that severely injured her face?
“special punk brand of activism.” brought to you by E!
I mostly agree with you about the revival, though “seemed to be on medication” seems pretty much like Duchovny’s default acting mode for the past decade or more.
Any public-facing medium with a low bar to entry (today or in the past) is going to be home to both great content and losers. That’s just the way it is and was with letters to the editor, public access TV, graffiti, etc.
“Occasionally shaky” is a charitable description of season 10. From the episodes I could stomach watching everything seemed off. The lighting, the sets, the direction, the writing the acting, the camerawork, the pacing. Duchovney seemed to be on medication in half the scenes. Everyone seemed to be there just for the…
The problem with X-files is it should have wrapped up in season six or at a push 7 then went purely to the occasional films ever 2-3 years. They didn’t go down that road.
So you’re the reason for Wikipedia had to edit this...
Christ. Back in my day, before this hipster YouTube garbage existed, we used to actually go outside once in a while and find suicide victims in the woods OURSELVES. And, if we couldn’t find them, we’d MAKE them.
Are there any “Youtube personalities” who aren’t terrible?
Why settle for complaining when you can also point the way? The article cited women-led films and TV that stood out in 2017. Please – and I mean this sincerely – list a few 2017 films and TV shows that told the stories of Asian, Arab, Native and Latin women, so we will know what AV Club failed to mention.
Not a huge Friends fan, but one of my favorite moments is when they have Rachel date a dude who is just as putzy and whiny as Ross. His name was Russ. I would watch that show much more if in every episode, someone kicked Ross in the nuts.
No white women are mentioned whose names aren’t in the title of their show.
They were kind of all tied for last
Exactly — it’s like how the mall has one set of escalators on one side and then forces you to walk all the way to the other side of the mall to find the next set. The clunky interface that forces you to wade through a thousand shows and movies to find what you want is a feature not a bug — it’s specifically there to…
I’m more annoyed by series that are designed for streaming, where it’s almost impossible to distinguish one episode from the next. For most Netflix dramas, I couldn’t tell you what happened in any specific episode.
I can’t agree with anyone who uses the term guyliner derisevely.
I’m 41, there is a long history of old guys righting articles like this. Simon Reynolds wrote a whole book with the sentiment. Here’s the thing : Right now there is a band we have never heard of, in a small rock club, that got a new drummer and is playing the best show of their life, and a bunch of drunk 20 year olds…
I will bite on your poorly disguised insult, person who does not seem to enjoy any music. We enjoy(ed) LCD Soundsystem because, to us, it is sonically interesting, well made dance music with a distinct point of view.
Re: getting old, I kinda feel like the 00's indie movement was largely a testament to How Serious Life Is in your 20's. Much of it feels melodramatic in retrospect (and not in the fun way), and it doesn’t connect with me any more, just as the resurgent emo wave catering to my demo in the late 90's feels silly in…
