Diogenes was doing cynicism before it was cool.

Wow, I had no idea about his wife. That’s awful. This whole thing sounds very impressive, but I’m not sure I could bring myself to watch it.

If it wasn’t obvious to everyone from the start that Twitter is a dumpster fire, it should have been at least from the ‘Gamergate’ shitstorm of 2014. Anyone still using it after that has no excuse.

I thought the whole of ‘Hail to the Thief’ was...

“Trump attempting to use his power and influence to intimidate women into sleeping with him against their will, or bragging about how he can touch them whenever he wants without their permission...”

I mean, if I’d been forced to give Harvey a naked massage (or worse), I’d think an Oscar would be the *least* I’d accept in compensation... frankly, anyone who went through that deserves every award they got.

And see, I don’t mind you saying that! Freedom of speech for all is my point. Let people make their accusations, and let the accused defend themselves. A conspiracy of silence helps nobody but the guilty.

Believe me, I’m aware of that. I’ve known people on both sides of this, both rape victims and victims of false allegations. Both are absolutely horrible things to happen to anyone. All I’m saying is, if we *had* to choose between them, I would rather live in a world that saw more false allegations if it also meant

To be clear (I’ve already clarified this below, but people didn’t notice), I was not at all suggesting that the legal burden of proof should be changed. I do know what ‘not guilty’ and ‘burden of proof’ mean, and I don’t think there’s any need to change the actual law in this regard. Just our attitudes, perhaps.

I don’t ever assume anybody agrees with me. But then, I like disagreement and debate. Consensus is boring. :)

Oh, it’s definitely news, I’m not questioning that. I just have an old-fashioned distaste for broadcasting filmed deaths. I don’t know, maybe it’s just pseudoreligious superstition, but there’s something inherently offensive about it to me.

Thanks for that update. Somehow I’d never bothered to check.
I’d like to be able to think that Singer is a decent guy, and Spacey... I hope this one was smoke without fire.

It’s more just hope than anything else, that truth would win in the end. But there certainly have been cases of people being wrongfully accused of sexual offences and ultimately exonerated. There have been some high-profile cases in the UK recently, which ended with large compensation payments being made by police to

I don’t believe I said anywhere that anyone should be legally punished without being put on trial. I’m not saying anything in the law should be changed regarding sexual offences: ‘innocent until proven guilty’ should of course remain the legal standard. Just that maybe we should change our social attitudes regarding

I love the fact that although this game almost certainly never existed, some people claim to remember it. It reminds me of ‘Candle Cove’.

Nah. The best option is impeach Trump, impeach Pence, keep on impeaching down the line of succession until you reach a non-corrupt president who’s prepared to respect the constitution.
Or just say ‘fuck it’ and overthrow the whole system. Hey, it’s good to have ambitious goals!

Even if we accept that the porn business is inherently evil (which, for the record, I don’t) - wouldn’t it be worth encouraging someone to use their ill-gotten gains for good purposes? Flynt would hardly be the first person to build a record of philanthropy on the back of riches acquired through dubious means. That

It turns out, not everyone loves a trier.

That’s not news, similar stories/rumours were being reported some time ago. But did anything actually happen with that Bryan Singer case? As I recall, there were some pretty serious allegations made there...

...Yeah, there’s no way in hell I’m watching that video. It’s kind of gross and ghoulish even to post it.
