Didn't Jack Nicholson beat them to that one?

I think Master and Commander possibly wins for male cast proportion, having dozens of characters and no female speaking parts (which makes sense given the setting). Though probably a large number of war films would qualify just as well.
Knowing it's a fakeout just makes the whole scene particularly cruel on Bill though, even by the standards of the Doctor. He could surely have found a way of testing her loyalty with less traumatic consequences… but that wouldn't have been so dramatic for the viewer.
I'm not blaming you here since I already knew John Simm is coming back, but I wish I didn't. That would have been an awesome and wholly unexpected plot twist, if the BBC knew how to hold back a damned spoiler.
"Don't tell the audience the inevitable consequences of doing something and then totally chicken out when it comes to the consequences."
Doctor Who does that all the damn time. It's hard to remember the fewer times when they've declared something has inevitable consequences, and actually stuck to it.
I've only seen the episode once (that was enough) but I remember my reaction being that if I was head of the BBC, RTD would have been fired on the spot.
I once read an acronym which managed to spin it out to 'FABGLITTER'. :) Can't remember what all the other letters stood for, though… I too prefer 'queer', but only in contexts where I hope people won't be offended by it.
I'd love a novel by the Peep Show David Mitchell.
When I was at university it was 'GLBT'. Somewhere along the line people realised 'LGBT' is slightly easier to pronounce, and they switched the first two letters, but I guess not everyone got the memo.
While I can understand why a new showrunner would want to reset the board with an entirely new cast of characters, I really hope that isn't the case with Bill. She's the best Companion in ages.
I know it really should be deeply unfunny by now, but honestly, the thought that 'Donald Trump is President' is still enough to make laugh like Edna Krabappel. I guess it's funnier when you don't have to live there.
I'm not convinced it already isn't fictionalised for comedic purposes…
I'd missed the news about Snyder. That's awful.
I remember seeing Snakes on a Plane with a few friends on opening night. We had a good enough time actually (about as good as could reasonably be expected), but I remember thinking, 'how did I let the Internet sucker me into this?'.
The short story is very short indeed. The premise basically *is* the story. Not sure how they've managed to spin it out into a feature-length film, but it looks fun.
Trump is what happens when people think a little nuclear war is worth risking to keep transgender people out of the bathroom.
Nah, Crimson Peak was definitely a gothic horror film, but with much more emphasis on the 'gothic' than the 'horror'. It was consciously going for a very old-fashioned style. Perhaps 'Gothic thriller melodrama with supernatural elements' would be the best description…
Personally, I think this looks a lot better than Drive. At very least, it's sure to have more jokes.
Plausible, but I'd love to read an actual source for all this 'reportedly' stuff…
Well, if it's any defence, she did look really great in that outfit…
