Social media has yet to come up with a comment rating system that isn't incredibly vulnerable to groupthink and enforcing the 'consensus opinion' of the community. But reddit's is particularly bad.

I choose to assume 'TOMT' is some sort of porn subreddit.

Who?

Every time I see someone write the phrase 'fuck boys', I assume it's a direction. That must be where I'm going wrong.

I have no opinion on the Ghostbusters movie or the rest of your comment, but just wanted to say I'm glad to see at least one person recognises that 'co-ed' is not a synonym for 'all female'. A metaphorically 'co-ed' movie would have both dudes and ladies in the lead roles.

Well, I only just realised those are two different people.

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention at the time, but I don't remember any articles about this movie which suggested that… at least until the online backlash happened, and then there was a well-meaning but somewhat misguided campaign to defend it.

That's true, but it's also a problem for the Democrats when the people are in the mood for blind anger, not calm reason. I genuinely wonder if they might get a few more votes if the colours were the other way around.

I think it's pretty safe to assume all members of the AV club, or certainly anyone commenting here at the very least, has seen Firefly and Serenity by now. Spoil away.

Up until Milo whatsisname managed it, I wasn't even aware it was possible to get banned from Twitter.

I'm already looking for a plugin which will purge any mention of the T-word from my internet. Happy third term, Obama!

I don't know, death metal is pretty popular. Maybe the Star Wars universe is just ahead of us in marketing cigarettes as something edgy and hardcore.

Rowling actually hasn't been single for some time… sorry for anyone hoping for a slice of that treasure, she's taken.

Is 90s Jack Nicholson circa A Few Good Men available?

People have been telling me to watch that movie for ages, but every time I've been distracted by something else that sounds less boring. Like the world chess championships.

Doesn't America have any folk tales of its own to adapt, rather than stealing other cultures?

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I feel Pocahontas is defensible. I think it might be the rare case where a noble lie is better than the awful truth - the Jebediah Springfield of cartoons. A remotely accurate film about Pocahontas would not get made, certainly not as a children's movie. Disney's Pocahontas

Hey, for what it's worth I consider it the 3rd best Batman movie overall, ahead of The Dark Knight Rises. But then I feel there have been rather more bad Batman movies than good ones.

It's not a good movie, but I'd argue it's the most fascinating of any of the Batman movies, because it's such a weird mess. An interesting failure can sometimes be more fun to watch than a boring success.

It seems clear from the video that they were complaining because he was not doing what (if anything) he was hired to do. They didn't want to look like 'underage prostitutes'.
