It looks weird because of how the wheels fit into the arches. Basically, the arches hug the tires too closely fore and aft and leave too much space above. This could be solved by lowering it, opening the arches or fitting bigger tires - which would probably require opening the arches.

Nobody needs this.  If you think you need this, you should reexamine your life in general.

Gonna have to respectively disagree. This particular year of ‘Bird, to me, looks like an Oldsmobile Toronado roofied a Lincoln Continental resulting in this abomination.  While I love the style of both of those cars, this thing is akin to toothpaste and orange juice - great on their own but a disaster together.

While I can appreciate the original, I think that we should chalk this one up to a miss on Detroit’s part and a win for Mr. Dye. By far, the best part of the Vista Cruiser is the upper half and, for me, you really can’t beat the sleek, space-age lines of the Bullet ‘Bird.

Actually, the return side of the PS steering system runs at a fairly low pressure - at least on the recirculating ball type steering gear in your Jeep. The only pressure required is to get the fluid back into the reservoir. More modern designs may have higher pressure due to restrictions in line size, etc. but still…

This is a good point. What really needs to be considered is the entire environmental impact of rebuilding an old drivetrain and putting it in a new body/frame vs. the manufacturing of a new drivetrain.
