My first thought was, "That's a $4,000 truck all day long."

Coming from Australia to Utah, my first time on the I-15 in peak hour I was listening to the traffic report on the radio and they said “traffic is heavy on the I-15, it’s down to the speed limit” and I got a big smile on my face
My car may or may not shoot fire and make gunshot noises when clutching in under the right circumstances, it just so happens that passing one of these clowns is one of those circumstances.
Yup, In Utah if you don’t yield to faster moving traffic REGARDLESS of speed limit its a primary offense. They were doing a big pullover sting last year to help people understand the law.
The worst part is that you know this person hangs out in the passing lane, despite that fact that it’s just as much against the law as speeding...
Maybe the Freelander is seen as ‘a Land-Rover for people who can’t afford a Range-Rover’ in America, but over here it’s just a car for old people.
It has leather, a high ride height which makes for easier ingress/egress when your knees hurt, and come from a perfectly respectable brand. For old folks who don’t care…
(Though this wasn’t a date. I was hanging out with my brother and his fiancee at her apartment)
“Hey, thanks for the date, but my Jeep won’t start. I’ll need duct tape, a hammer and the use of your dishwasher”
The cool thing about credit unions (to me) is the brutal honesty. The not-for-profit setup means we’re not just trying to make every dime off of folks that we can, so we don’t have a selfish motive to put someone in a risky loan. So we tend to avoid car loans that are more than 72 months, unless it’s something really…
Flexibility. A lower minimum payment increases your flexibility when applying for other loans, say mortgages. Plus with no penalty for early payoff you give yourself some room to breathe when all hell breaks loose. Rule of thumb should be longest term you can get at the lowest rate, pay it off on your schedule, not…
Sigh...there goes one of the best, most effective deterrents for keeping people from borrowing or asking to use your truck.
A couple of comments. From someone who grew up on a ranch, and whose family still ranches, we really liked m/t’s in trucks. For really steep grades, it is nice to be able to stick something in low gear and let it inch up.
I’ve said it before, but I prefer a manual for towing. I can see a hill ahead, and downshift prior to reaching it, so I’m already higher in the power band when I start to climb. With an auto, you wait until the truck starts to climb, then you need to mash the throttle to not lose speed. The result is a full-throttle…
No 26,001 gvwr or gcwr, not trailer weight. truck and trailer total not just trailer. I think in my state its 5 tons max trailer weight before you need a CDL.
Haha literal same. Like technically a vodka-vermouth situation is called a “kangaroo” but no one knows what the fuck that is. I mean if someone really wants to be the guy who says “well actually what you want is a kangaroo,” I guess I encourage it because I would like to see how people respond to it.
Dude we buy Uhaul pickups almost daily, price them fairly and the farmers eat them up. V8, long box trucks for about 20k that are only a year old... All we do is change the oil, give it a good once over, throw some water at it and then drop it on the yard.
You’re in luck! The prices vary wildly from the ‘94 (non-targa) and before, ‘97+ (3.2L / 6MT) and the ‘02+ (facelift). Black or silver ‘94 and before is about as cheap as you can get them, with 100K mile examples regularly trading in the $35-45K range.
When I buy a used car, I balance the average market, regional conditions and how much the car is worth to me.
If I can’t balance it, I don’t buy it.
If Car X is worth $20k to me and a local dealer has it, in acceptable mileage and condition for $20k, I might haggle a little but in the end I know I’ll buy it if it passes…
