yep, serious. The very threat that the A-10 was built for is a reality in the Russian build-up on Ukraine's border. And, it looks like Russians are going to bring armor into Syria - which we know will be pushing someone around that the US supports after Jan 2017 and we'll need to TCB.

re: the Su-30SMs. Since Russia has so few of them, and they are their top of the line air superiority fighter, makes you think that the only reason Russia would fly them into Syria is to show how serious they are about taking over the airspace.

Would not be surprised to see the Russians begin building a naval base - a warm water port where you don’t have to sail through the Dardanelles to get to open water.

good answer. Don't agree with your paragraph on 8/10ths and stopping - I think that's an apples and oranges analogy. But, I understand your overall points and they're good.

Here’s Tyler’s post on the F-35 IOC, “Not A Big Surprise: The Marines’ F-35 Operational Test Was Far From Operational”

Mach 2 with a Gatling gun... sweet

at least the Russian general doesn't wear a hat the size of a satellite dish like the North Koreans

why not just tell us who you are referring to?

Chaos theory at work. If Clinton kills Bin Laden, then the future direction of el Qaida takes a different turn.

wouldn’t it be a smart idea if the Air Force and Navy and Marines said lets slow down on the F-35 hemorrhaging and spend the money we save on updating and improving what we have in the inventory. Pretty sure that the US isn’t going to be facing a boatload of 5th gen+ fighters from Russia or China in the next 10 years,

uhh Netfires, Bill Clinton is the one who muffed the opportunities to take out Osama before he could get al Qaida organized.

Buzz, Netfires is on your six and locked on...

Nobody seems to bat an eye when we talk about spending 2.5 billion to overhaul a CVN. How much has the Air Force spent on keeping the B-52 flying? Yet as soon as modernizing an Iowa-class comes up, everyone goes apeshit.

maybe the Russians have decided that the quickest way to get the job done and not get involved in another Afghanistan is to nuke ISIS-land. Turn it into a piece of glass. Problem solved.

Congress needs to pass a law that LM is only allowed to suck up 5% of the US GNP at any one time. Let LM work out which airplane/concept/development/testing/operational evaluation that they spend it on.

IMO the current Executive branch of the government is quite the opposite of reckless. In fact, they've become obsequious.

Seems the Russians would be vested in keeping Iran from going nuclear. In a year or two, assuming the Obama plan works out, Iran can build nuclear bombs that you could put in the back of a truck. Probably not a good tool for jihadists to have access to.

Looks like the quid pro quo for Russia helping out Assad will be Crimea South. They’ll finally have a warm water port that you don’t have to go through a funnel to come and go.

I hope the Russians are smart enough that when they start applying that “excessive application of tanks,” they don't roll across the Israeli border. You can piss the US off and nothing happens. You piss off the Israelis and they blow your shit up.

Couple of thoughts; 1) Obama will still be running things until Jan 2017. 2) the US electorate elected Obama twice. Who’s to say they won’t make that same mistake a third time with Clinton?
