Let’s be honest - we have more respect for any and every low level job than we do for the President of the United States.  Remember when that used to the highest goal career wise?  Something to look up to?

It’s a dignity thing. It’s toxic to one’s self but that’s what it is. I went through it recently when I was unemployed. You don’t want to be given a job, you want to earn it.
