This seems like a worse solution than simply getting rid of user reviews, but that is never going to happen because they drive engagement. I’m just saying of all the remake’s problems, changing the lyrics to a couple songs to appear “woke” is one of the least.

So while the original lyrics are probably perfectly fine within their original context of a 90-minute narrative of an evil octopus lady being mean to a mermaid (or whatever it’s about), that context may not be preserved when fans play those songs over and over again.

But if he’s accurate that it was done before Covenant and The Predator had even started production then Fox shelved it before Disney ever could.

Based on what I know about Ridley Scott, he probably included the Xenomorph’s development in Prometheus to do a giant middle finger to the people that enjoy the AvP franchise.

It feels like this producer is spilling the beans in the hopes that franchise fans mount an online campaign to release this thing. With any luck, it works. Whether or not the series turns out to be any good, whether or not it fits with Disney’s plans for the hoard of Fox IP, it would be a shame to dump finished work…

The other scenario is that the producer meant to say Prometheus but misspoke because Alien: Resurrection sounds much more like the title of a franchise reboot. That would give us a more coherent time period, in that both movies take place significantly before the original trilogy of Alien films.

You realize, that describes the time period of the entire franchise short of Prey, Predator and Predator 2, and covers some 400 years, right?

Unfortunately, if you look at the ratings per season, “Archer Vice”/Season 5 kind of mortally wounded the show. They never really recovered after that.

I found the lore a little oppressive compared to the previous game. In Fallen Order, the links to the main series are mainly aesthetic. The way that the sun hovers over a spare horizon on Bogano perfectly evokes the look of the original trilogy, without any real need for extensive exposition.

Some odd picks here, and a fair number of streaming releases that I haven’t seen yet. Random notes:

I wouldn’t have a ton of hope for a toothless disney-fied Alien project anyway. I think the ship may have sailed for more than just the Ripley character in regards to that franchise.

It makes me wonder about Blomkamp’s pitch. It Weaver was enthusiastic, it must have at least been interesting, but his reputation was spent at that point, mostly for bad reasons. For those who think Blomkamp is a hack, I humbly ask, “Why do you steal daddy’s car?”

This movie doesn’t really have much interest in being anything other than what it is. It’s really all just a dressing for the bloodbath, and in that way, feels like home.
