Of course there are those, like myself, who belong to the first group [...] who would also fully support a do-over.

The reason he feels he needs to defend himself and those like him and in this “first group” in addition to the “second group”, is because he identifies with the motivations of those who want to reshoot the movie.

Expectations were set (creating excitement and a desire to see the movie), and then they were all violated because of the wannabe artistic stupidity of the writer.

You’re using the word “article” very loosely, I see.

Yeah, that’s not an absurd comparison at all. Because we’re all really worried about who The Last Jedi is going to appoint to the Supreme Court.

You know, some people also didn’t like The Last Jedi because it’s a structurally questionable movie with some bad writing and underdeveloped (or underused) characters.

I don’t get why RPO I should on the list. At best it was forgettable and at worst it advocates consuming art for the sake of copying the text rather than to understand the text as well as to imply that only “real nerds” can like nerdy things.

I would have put Annihilation on this list. It sometimes feels like an odd compromise between a thriller and a mood piece, and it risks explaining too much about its weird world, but I thought it was very effective as a sidelong character study about depression and self-destruction.

I feel like this post really buried the lead, which is HOW GOOD THE ORIGINAL WITCHES IS. I remember Anjelica Huston equally awe-inspiring and terrifying my little second grade goth lesbian brain, and also that I loved this movie specifically cause the only male character was a mouse.

This seems like pretty standard New Yorker stuff. Anthony Lane makes an adultish point about the heroine of a children’s movie, which bumps him out of the primary audience. But then we must notice that his prose evinces an urbane detachment that eludes the commonplace boner-dads of the world, who have been conjured

Geometry Wars! I was in grad school when the 360 launched, so my library of games grew very slowly because I was fucking broke. And I probably played this game (and its sequel) for longer than just about anything else. The former Mrs. Cryptid mocked me tirelessly (and for the most part genially) for using the fancy

People who drink tequila are usually dicks

A separate but not unrelated thought: Uncle Nino is the Jacob Marley figure for the men of the house, but it is a lesson most of them will likely not learn in time.

Do we know why Deena kept calling her “Laurens”??

No they won’t , star wars is dead in their eyes

Oh no. Now all these idiots are going to have more time to post about Star Wars.

I’m even guilty of it. Whenever some one mentions Nazism as a right wing regime I go into a 45+ minute tirade about how Nazi is short for Nationalsozialismus or National Socialism, which by nature is left wing and Marxists will have to except and answer for their half sibling to the end of time.

Nerg is not that hard once you learn the moves....like anything.

This sounds like an excellent place for players to, um, git gud before they come over and fight the goddamn Nergigante with the rest of us. I swear to god that spikey bastard single-handedly stops Dual Blades from being “easy mode” like folks say.

Too soon
