The monopoly isn’t iOS, the monopoly is forcing people to only get apps via the app store. Your analogy to Windows would only be valid if you could only run software purchased via the Windows Store, and I suspect you’d be rightfully outraged if Microsoft suggested that.

The problem is, that you can apply this “we’re just taking your rights away to protect you” argument to a whole bunch of areas. People who argue this rarely want to see everyone forced to buy software from the Windows Store, or be forced to use Internet Explorer/Edge.
