Great game. A rare kind of narrative where there's more than one story going on and each one's less obvious: the main story is out in the open with big flashing lights around it, and the other, darker story is lurking in the shadows, never explicitly spelled out.

I would like to point out, if no one's figured it out by now, that the "adventurer/non-adventurer" is the "Falling Man" of the Myst series and is one of the first thing you see in the game.
