As a person of Chinese descent, this still doesn’t sit right with me. This isn’t just “whitewashing” — it’s another example of a film like “The Last Samurai” where a white man has to save us Asians from ourselves. It’s a stupid trope / story that gets used all the time and reeks of colonialism.

Concidentally, I’ve been seeding Anne Of Green Gables (1985) for the last four months. Hard to find and I enjoyed watching it.

I won’t even acknowledge these other AOGG adaptions. Nothing could ever be as great as the original CBC miniseries of the 80's. Nothing, no one, ever. Ever.

I googled and was shocked to see that Beachcombers was on for 2 decades, to 1990. (I thought it was ‘70s only.) I tried to watch that show and could not get into it.

I’m pretty sure insulting that version (or Anne in general) is a capital offense in PEI.
