Good god people...pretty sure the Giz commenter sense of humor is batting less than .500 today. Who cares if it's accurate or not? Still pretty clever joke. I love jokes about doctors, despite being one. I have a blonde girlfriend who is very smart and headed to grad school next year, but that doesn't mean that I

Incredible....all the functionality of photoshop. So glad I didn't drop $699 on it now that this is available free of charge. #WellPlayedSir

This makes sense for the military, but I wonder how effective it would be to use on someone other than an in-shape 18 to 30-something year old person. Takes a lot of pressure just to feel abdominal aorta in a lot of people, so I can't imagine how hard this thing has to press down to externally cross-clamp it in an

Shopped for (and bought) mine a couple months ago...only choices are glossy 11" and glossy 13". Overall the screen is great in terms of color, resolution, and brightness, but a matte option would have been a worthwhile upgrade.

Or you could hit up ebay and enjoy showing off the red dot on the front of your M8: [www.ebay.com]

Just went to their website and if you start down the preorder path, it says they will ship "early 2012", so we'll find out when that actually ends up being. Don't fully trust the website photos because anyone can make their product perform decently in a few perfect conditions that they choose. I'll be more interested

I've been looking around and can't find an answer to this. Does anyone actually have their hands on a photo version of this camera? I remember this concept being talked about a long time ago, but doesn't seem like any units have shipped yet. All I can find are "hands on" previews. Seems premature to discuss future

Would love to have this available for cameras. It wouldn't make my S95 an underwater camera, but it might let me pull it out if it is raining without worrying about it being ruined. Not sure what it would do to the image quality if it was put on the lens, but I guess that could be an issue for most cell phones with

That was the technique demonstrated in the video that introduced the challenge. The winner is only a slight variation on the shot they did in the video (different fruit and background). Not saying this is a bad thing at all though...great shots.

I think the first "fast" was referring to how quickly the lens zooms and focuses. But in the second sentence, they are talking in the more traditional photography definition of "fast", which means having a large aperture so that you can use a fast shutter speed even in low light conditions.

If they could make a pen that works better than those horrible capacitive styli then I would be very interested. But then again that would essentially make this a Wacom Cintiq which is $2000+ and needs a computer to be attached to.

Do you have to keep paying for a minimal service plan just in case you have to pull the phone out one time?

I have a Macbook Air and would love something like this (although prob not at the $299 price point). It would allow me to have several accessories like HDs, graphics tablet, etc attached at my desktop and only have to plug one thing in when I get home and want to use them.

Could make a really awesome (but absurdly expensive) skylight in a modern looking house. It would be great to watch a storm though this thing.

Definitely physical barrier. If something abrasive gets near the front of your lens (think sand on a windy day), you can replace the filter and still be left with the lens in original condition. But if you don't have anything on, the glass that is part of the lens gets scratched and that's very tough to fix. The

I asked for a DSLR for Christmas this year and have been eagerly researching this in anticipation of hopefully receiving it. So I am speaking not as an expert but someone who has done a lot of reading about this in the past few days.

Even at that price it's an amazing camera. I bought it a few months ago and have been thrilled with the pictures that it takes. Also, if you are considering a future DSLR purchase, it is great for teaching you the basics of manual settings. I pretty much leave mine in manual or aperture priority modes (depending on

Damn...all this time I was hoping people were just celebrating my birthday. I guess that stuff was kind of important too.

Ah, found it on the website....sounds like you plug the HDMI plug into the tv and then have to have a separate USB power cord to plug into the other side. Still sounds like a useable living room solution.

How is it powered if you hook it up to a tv? Does HDMI have the ability to power a device like USB?
