Leaving your (well behaved) kid to their own devices in public is one thing. Kids have the right to exist in public space. Expecting the employees to be responsible for keeping kids from wandering off... very much NOT the same thing.

You can get wood paneling to match your cabinets to make it look like your dishwasher and fridge are just big cabinets. My experience with Apple accessories is they break at least as often as the generic stuff, frequently more often. After a few years (sometimes months!) of heavy use, they tend to fray at the strain relief point which has been shrunk for aesthetics. There are better made cables out there that are more durable.
