I really liked this piece. While I’ve seen and spoken to numerous black cosplayers over my years of convention attendance, I’ve never realized how stressful it can be for them to decide to portray a character who is not of a darker skin tone so this was quite informative.

That guy who was saying that Genji shouldn’t be able to deflect Bastion’s turret mode needs to just get out right now. Out of everything discussed in this article that was the most ridiculous thing.

Oh it’s not completely redeemable after such a huge buildup to the announcement of the release date, but I’ll definitely take a company willing to delay for the sake of a better product, than a product that does feel half-assed. You’re absolutely correct about that.

I respect your accuracy on news like this quite a bit, you guys have a long track record of being correct on things like this, but I don’t think the negative reception that Kotaku has among a large portion of the gaming community has truly been acknowledged by the staff here.

Hopefully Square - specifically Tabata - doesn’t avoid explaining what exactly is the reason for the delay. After the big push for the release date at the Uncovered event in March, if they try to hide their reasons for the delay, no matter how much they were meant to be for the betterment of the game, it could really

If only it was done by the same studio. Sadly Berserk is being made by a studio with no prior credits and the studio who worked on the sequels to the crazy short anime Teekyu. It helps to explain a lot of the issues, but is disappointing to think about how this series is being treated.

While Ajin’s is far from the top, it is much better utilized than Berserk’s. That doesn’t mean you have to agree with me or my examples, but it is most definitely a much nicer looking series than Berserk.

That’s very true. CG is far more similar to live action film than people realize, rather than traditional animation.

Different does not equal cutting edge though. There’s a lot to like about what they’ve been doing with Berserk, but cutting edge is defined as “being at the latest or most advanced stage of development; innovative or pioneering.” The CG work for Berserk does not deserve that statement. It is nowhere near the levels of

You know, some people are into the porn side of Overwatch, some are into the shipping side, but I am most definitely on the Papa 76 side of the community (outside of the game itself that is). It’s such an amusing direction fans took the character and it’s actually one that has exploded more than almost any other fan

Depends on the side of the fandom you’re on. A lot of people ship Mercy with either Pharah or Soldier 76 (I’m more of a Reinhardt and Mercy myself, but that’s irrelevant), and that somewhat determines whether we get Papa or Grandpa 76 in these collections. That, or he’s just the dad no matter what, which is also

Agree completely. As someone who has devoured a lot of manga over his young life, I rarely let the base classification determine whether I do or do not read a series (usually let the summary of the series do that for me).

There’s honestly a lot of references to Berserk though throughout the Souls/Borne franchise and it’s not a bad thing at all. Miyazaki’s team was inspired by that manga, what a cool thing to think about.

Wow... I thought the camera in Tales of Zestiria was bad... This is something special all on its own.

It’s honestly kind of nice to see Nintendo’s localization team being called out on something that’s not “censorship” related.

I haven’t been able to play Paragon yet, but if you’re willing to still cover it, I would gladly continue to read. The game has a unique identity among the other MOBA and MOBA-esque games on the market right now - that gritty realism is not as common as it used to be - and I truly believe that it’s worth continuing to

This is most definitely an odd situation for Square to put themselves in, but the difference of platform, compared to the head-to-head that Persona 5 and FFXV are going at in Japan, does provide some of that balance that could have been missing.

Finally! Someone else who sees the sense in Atlus’ decision. I too was pleased that they weren’t releasing P5 right next to FFXV. It allows me time to enjoy one and then leap in and enjoy the other.

I’m not too surprised about that. After the Smash ones kind of settled down, Nintendo has definitely become more sporadic in their releases.

All of those new Zelda amiibo look great and I’m definitely eager to get them. I’m liking the craftsmanship and the design on each and every one of them.
