Dennis Quaid’s last truly good movie

Agree completely. I think their weakest episodes were the first couple, which was probably fatal to getting viewers onboard.  As the characters developed and they got the tone to balance better, it became a better experience.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been coming to the same conclusion lately regarding commenting. I got into a stupid comment war here a few weeks ago, and at the end of it I just couldn’t understand what the point was.

Yes, reading Zwick’s account directly, it talks about how Julia had just left Kiefer Sutherland.

Spielberg has directed worse films that were bigger bombs than Hook. I would call Hook his most disappointing film rather than worst, because of what a missed opportunity it was given how much it had going for it versus the end result.

If you are a fan of The Mandalorian, just watch the last 3 episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.

It’s okay.  He has all that money to dry his tears with.

The film feels more like a contemporary reboot of the film Andy watched in the 90s. Complete with unnecessarily convoluted revamp of the villain’s origins and way too serious treatment of a kid’s entertainment property. Your Lost In Space remake comparison is apt.

It was not my intention to be condescending (but I will cop to being a little snarky). My apologies for misunderstanding your point.  Peace.

Dude, criticize them all you want. They are going to shit, lots of them are crap, and none of them are half as charming as the source material that was, quite frankly, intended for children.

Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfieffer, Danny Devito, Jim Carey, Tommy Lee Jones, and Arnold Schwarzenegger were not A-list. My mistake.

Superhero movies have been attracting A-list talent in big expensive productions since 1978. That’s not changing, even as the MCU and the like inevitably relaxes its dominance of the box office.

That’s on Hulu in the U.S.  I know Disney Plus offerings can differ depending on what country you are in.

I think it’s pretty shitty of them to nominate Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Haven’t seen the movie, I don’t care if she was terrible in it. She’s 12, she doesn’t deserve to be called out like this.

(Well, he means)

The magic=drug allegory was bad on different levels. Magic had never been shown to have that effect previously- but that’s not a deal breaker. They still could’ve done some kind of allegory about addiction in regards to Willow using too much magic.

I agree- enjoy the art they had made before as much as you are still able to.

I don’t think it’s weird. Madmartigan was just about as essential a part of the charm of the original film as Warwick Davis. His absence is an unfortunate and unavoidable great big gaping hole in this revival, and making a mystery of his fate is a good way to pay homage to the character’s importance.

Black Adam should’ve been introduced as an antagonist in a Shazam movie. Afterwards, they could’ve spin him off into his own feature as an antihero. It’s so stupid to me that the first movie they made of Shazam’s archenemy was not in a Shazam movie.

Ah, I checked out when I saw it so low- it’s a personal favorite.
