Yup, semi rural Scotland. Judging by the other comments it seems like there's heavier regulation here, and maybe a little more pride. The only other places I've gotten taxis is Amsterdam and Barbados, where I also experienced a high standard of service.

This makes sense - here I have never had a bad or gross experience with a taxi but I can see how it varies place to place. We also are possibly a bit dated, I’d always carry cash if I needed a cab rather than try to pay by card, and a tracking app sounds really futuristic.
