Yeah, to me, it's more of a question of degree than kind. I mean, I can respect someone like Adele even if her music isn't really in my style; she's a person who obviously cares about her craft. Some of these other singers, though, they're pretty cynically ambitious; it's off-putting.

I find this is the problem with pop music as a whole. It has too much emphasis on either image/attitude or virtuosity. Virtuosity obviously has a place in music, but it's just one aspect; pop has a tendency to treat it as the ONLY aspect.
