The Russells are thought to be a thinly veiled representation of the real-life Vanderbilts. They didn’t have far to look for a plot twist. Look up Consuelo Vanderbilt and you’ll see... Gladys may not go quietly but she may indeed have to go! That little smile on Ada at the end was just perfect. It is incredible how

After 17 episodes, the kiss that i’ve been waiting for has finally happened. Now, i’ll be looking forward to the ridonculously ostentacious wedding between Marion and Larry.

It is super obvious that Bertha promised the Duke a marriage with Gladys to solve his long term money problems. I think Bertha is underestimating her daughter. I don’t think she will go quietly into that marriage to be a dollar princess.

Yup. And if the writers are basing Gladys’ character after Consuelo Vanderbilt, we’re in for a juicy war between Gladys and her mother.

I think she dangled a marriage with her daughter and a fat dowry along with it.

Im not opposed to letting teens work, I got a part time job at 15 and really loved it. I experienced interesting social interactions and it gave me a boost on my resume when I was seeking a potential career job straight out of graduating high school. However I never worked more than 4 hour shifts on school days and it

“The children yearn for the mines.”

“Look, our entire voting base is nothing but snowbirds who aren’t going to last until the end of the decade. Might as well let them creep up the skirts of 16 year olds while they’re still above ground.” -Florida GOP

Dickensian was always an unfair term. Dickens knew that there was nothing worse than the exploitation of children.

I just hope there is some additional proofreading with this new regime.

This.

Criticizing the nation-state of Israel is not antisemitism.

My sincere hope is the site is not just back but returns to some of the former quality and insight that made it a an outsized-pop culture staple. Frankly the site had been in decline for years before its shuttering. I don’t mean to shit on you or any other writers who, I gather, have been working under less-than-ideal

Thing is, that character needed an actor to play him as an egotistical asshole. Turns out that Tim Allen didn't need to "act" that way, he just naturally is.

He sounds terrible. But just shouting “Leaving!” and dropping your costume upon your exit is fucking hilarious.

Tim Allen being an absolute asshole on set isn’t new. This is less about this specific incident and more just about confirming what’s been known for decades. He’s *notorious* for this.

Yea, he really does seem the type to walk around life completely delusional like that.

When your defence of someone is “everyone else does it too!” or “It’s always been that way!” you might need to rethink your choice to defend him.

This is more or less what I would expect from someone who’s probably thinking “I’m surrounded by godless heathen libtards” every day he’s on a film set.

Doesn’t matter, he’s working with other people, fellow professionals who deserve a baseline of respect, and (former) star status doesn’t excuse him from basic decency, which it sounds like Allen has very little of
