cuts...are being made in order to save money by not paying residuals to the creators, stars, crewmembers, or whoever else stood to make money when someone watched the shows/specials/etc. on HBO Max.”

How do they think this will reflect on future talent wanting to work with Warner?!

Variety says the cuts—which include several Sesame Street Elmo specials, for goodness’ sake—are being made in order to save money by not paying residuals to the creators, stars, crewmembers, or whoever else stood to make money when someone watched the shows/specials/etc. on HBO Max.

Another reminder, in the age of streaming, that if you don’t own a copy you can’t rely on it always being there.

WB lost like $3 or $4 billion in the period leading up to the merger, and had multiple really bad earnings reports before that too.

Indeed, and that’s all Zaslav cares about. He’s the worst kind of media ghoul - slap together a bunch of garbage with lowest-common-denominator appeal that costs $11 per episode to produce and enough people will watch it to turn a tidy profit. It will be fungible, forgettable, and terrible, but who cares? Not Zaslav

There is actually a Young Justice comic running right now, which takes place after season 4. It’s called Young Justice: Targets and is by the same creative team as the show.

HBO keeps getting cuts across the board. Has any cuts actually happened at Discovery? It reeks of favoritism — especially when HBO Max has 50 million more subscribers than Discovery at the time of the merger. Makes little sense to cut the successful streamer down.

There’s a comic book mini-series right now that takes place a few months after season 4's ending. I doubt it’ll end the storyline, but it’s always nice to have a bit more from this series.

Not entirely related, but there was another story out today about how composer Natalie Holt worked on the Batgirl soundtrack for a year, only to see her work shelved for a corporate tax writeoff.

It’s definitely easier in animation than live action. It’s come back once before.

As a technical point it hasn’t been cancelled......just isn’t moving forward.  Maybe once they get the financials in order they’ll move forward with it again (slim chance but not an impossible one).

Or maybe we’ll just have to wait until the next change of executives in 5 years, like last time.

This sucks. Maybe they can finish off the story in a comic series.

It’s Dan Levy, so kinda?

cuuuute.

Surely they could have thought of 3 more to fill those last stripes.
“Racists as fuck, vote them out.”
“Only exist to serve the wealthy, vote them out.”
“Inching closer to fascism every day, vote them out.”

We might need to add more stripes to the flag.

No, adult women do not enter into their minds at all. Women are lesser beings and are disposable.

if this doesn’t turn out to be a case of “the dog catching the car” for the GQP such that women swamp the midterms to win control of Congress for the Dems, I don’t know what to say except I’m done with this place, I’m tired of being locked in an asylum where the batshit idiots I’m forced to live with have as much

The death cult that is the Republican Party is a real life horror show. There is no indignity or cruelty beneath them.
