Yep, congress has plenty of self-serving, self-interested climbers who have clawed their way all the way to Washington, and they do not want to go back being city councilor in whatever burg they crawled out of. I think they’d sooner give up their insider trading privileges than accept term limits.

Then push for reform of the system, not goddman manipulation of it to override a valid election result. Do you want violence in the streets from Trump supporters? If so, then push as hard as you can to steal a legitimate election result from them and see what happens.

I really think that’s best case scenario. It means we get 4 more years of obstructionism from congress, which is shitty, but far less shitty than letting him run wild on our country unchecked.

Jesus Christ, what an infantile response. Then I guess we haven’t had a democracy since Rutherford Hayes defeated Tilden in 1876 without winning the popular vote.

It’s depressing, but it may be the saving grace and the wedge that keeps Trump from having any legislative success.

You do realise that Trump himself branded the electoral college a “disaster for democracy” and called for a revolution, when he thought that Romney won the popular vote in 2012?

Isn’t this exactly what Trump supporters would be saying if HRC had won? Subverting our democracy is not the way to preserve and restore it; it’s the way to ruin it forever. He won. We lost. Time to work together to make the best of a bad situation, not throw a hissy fit and toss out the institutions of our

And Houston (Harris County) just elected a liberal lady DA, Kim Ogg, whose primary platform plank was dismissing marijuana cases (already decriminalized in the city).

If Trump tries to impose term limits on Congress, he’ll lose his (some of) his support there. It’s hard to insist on the need to fire people and then get full-fledged support from those same people. If he drops that from his agenda, it may be a different story, but as long as that remains on his list, he’s not going

You remember when Trump wouldn’t say if he would accept the election results or not and got rightly called a shitbag for it?

And Jefferson Co. Tx just elected the state’s first black woman sheriff.

I think it’s a little unfair to circulate petitions calling for the electoral delegates to subvert the election results, spreading the #notmypresident business, and then there’s the sporadic bits of violence and destruction that have gone with the protests too.

you would think these people would be well over six foot tall Vikings with chiseled jawlines, a body like David and Mensa level intelligence. I doubt it is surprising that they are very much not that.

how often are they held outside the major cities?

I don’t think the pollsters do a good job of measuring scattered, rural voters, who seem like a small portion of the voting public when you’re doing your polling in cities and larger towns

If we just changed a few words in the article, the exact same critique could apply to (the former) Gawker media sites which seem to draw from a similarly limited set of writers.

for some unfucking- unfathomable reason just didn’t turn out

The idea of blaming Democrats for running a highly capable and qualified candidate against the horror that is Trump - blaming US for this situation - is offensive and absurd

train doctor? I thought we called those engineers
